Wine Wine Wine

Collection of wine news and wine-related feeds

At 59.01 litres per capita Vatican City State tops the Wine Institute per capita wine consumption league table <pdf here>. I suspect a lot of it gets splashed around by the population of 932 rather than consumed.

I’m not sure what happened in the Falkland Islands or Greenland? Consumption in both states jumped enormously. The 56,000 Greenlanders went from 16 litres per head to over 35 litres in just one year. Maybe the armed services improved the quality of wines they stocked.

Aside from the anomalies above it is not surprising that the first three countries of note in the table are France (53.88), Italy (46.96) and Portugal (45.26). At just 9 litres per head the US has a way to go to catch up on these three.
